Punjab Police busts cross-border arms smuggling network, Arrests smuggler linked to Pakistan

Amritsar, July 29: Punjab Police has succeeded in arresting a member of an arms smuggling network linked to Pakistan. DGP Gaurav Yadav informed on Tuesday that the team of Counter Intelligence Amritsar has busted this cross-border arms smuggling module under an intelligence-based operation and also arrested a smuggler involved in it.

DGP Gaurav Yadav informed that the arrested accused had picked up this consignment of weapons from near the Indo-Pak border and was on his way to hand them over to further criminal elements, but the police nabbed him in time.

The accused was working on the instructions of a smuggler based in Pakistan. The recovered weapons were to be handed over to criminals and gangsters.

An FIR has been registered in this entire case at SSOC, Amritsar. A special police team is now investigating this entire network in depth and its links with the country and abroad are being investigated.
