Punjab Police bust interstate weapons module; 10 country-made pistols seized

Chandigarh: In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police have busted an interstate illegal weapons supply module with the arrest of two accused from Uttar Pradesh. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said that 10 country-made 7.65 MM pistols along with 20 magazines were recovered from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Dalesh Kumar, alias Saurav Kumar, alias Nannu from Aligarh, and Amit Chahar from Agra.

Linked to Earlier Terror Module Investigation

The development comes nearly a month after the arrest of two BKI operatives who were involved in placing explosives near Balachaur on the directions of a foreign-based handler. The same IED was later used in a blast at a police station in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh.

Weapons Recovered from Car and Highway

During the investigation, both accused were arrested from Mathura. Initially, five pistols and 10 magazines were recovered from a Grand Vitara car. Later, based on their disclosure, another five pistols and 10 magazines were recovered from the Mathura-Palwal highway, taking the total recovery to 10 pistols and 20 magazines.

    Foreign-Based Handlers Behind the Network

The DGP revealed that the accused were working under instructions from foreign-based criminals operating from Germany and the US. They were supplying weapons to criminal gangs in Punjab and were also involved in firing incidents linked to extortion, including an attack at a travel agent’s residence in Garhshankar.

Case Registered Under BNS and Arms Act

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act at a police station in Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to trace the wider network involved in the illegal arms supply chain.
