Head Constable Amandeep Singh, a resident of PUDA Colony in Nabha, was murdered with sharp weapons by some unidentified persons yesterday, while his brother Navdeep Singh was also injured in the attack. The Katwali police station has arrested two accused in this case while four are still at large.
After inspecting the scene of the incident, SP Patiala Jasvir Singh said that we have formed different teams to solve the mystery of this murder. Some evidence of the murderers has also been found and we will arrest them soon. The police held a conference at around 11 pm and informed the media.
He said that the accused have been identified as Asis alias Aashi, Sarv Kumar, Ricky son of Raj Kumar, and Ricky’s son Vasian near Balmik Mandir, Bauran Gate, Nabha, along with some other unidentified youths.
Family stops postmortem and cremation
The deceased Amandeep Singh was married and had a small child. According to the family, he was also scheduled to attend the Republic Day parade on January 26. The family members said that they will not allow the postmortem and cremation until the accused are arrested.
Murder over money: SSP
The statement of Patiala Police SSP Varun Sharma has also come to light. He clarified that the police have arrested two accused in this case, and the remaining four will also be arrested soon. He said that the accused had an argument with policeman Amandeep over some money, after which he was attacked and killed. In this regard, a case under IPC 103, 109, 1913), 190 BNS-2023 has been registered at the Kotwali Police Station based on the statement of father Rajinder Singh.
