Punjab Police Busts Cross-Border Arms Smuggling Module Linked to Pakistan

Amritsar, Punjab: In a major intelligence-led operation, the Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing of Amritsar has busted a cross-border arms smuggling network with links to Pakistan, apprehending three operatives and recovering a cache of sophisticated foreign-made weapons.

Three Arrested, Nine Pistols Seized

The arrested individuals have been identified as Davinder Singh, Paramjit Singh alias Pamma, and Harmeet Singh alias Meetu, all residents of Amritsar Rural.

During the operation, police recovered nine foreign-made pistols along with magazines, which were allegedly smuggled across the border for use in criminal activities in Punjab.

Pakistan-Based Handler Behind Network

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused were acting on the directions of a Pakistan-based arms smuggler. The seized weapons were reportedly intended for Sherpreet Singh alias Gulaba, a close associate of the notorious gangster Jobanjit Singh alias Billa Manga.

According to officials, the consignment was meant to fuel unlawful and gang-related activities in the region.

Case Registered, Further Probe Underway

A case has been registered under relevant sections at Police Station SSOC, Amritsar, and a detailed investigation is ongoing to trace both the backward and forward linkages of the network.

Authorities are working to identify additional associates and uncover the full extent of the smuggling operation.

DGP Reaffirms Crackdown on Narco-Terror Nexus

The Punjab Police, in a statement released by DGP Punjab, reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling narco-terror and organized crime networks operating in the state.

“We remain steadfast in safeguarding Punjab from cross-border threats and criminal syndicates,” the DGP said, emphasizing continued vigilance against smuggling and terrorism-linked operations.
