Punjab Police Hosts 10th Northern Regional Police Coordination Meeting to Strengthen Security

Punjab Police hosted the 10th Northern Regional Police Coordination Committee (NRPCC) Meeting in hybrid mode on Tuesday, bringing together senior police and security officials from several states, Union Territories and central agencies.

Senior representatives from the BSF, CRPF, ITBP, NIA, SIB and police forces of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh participated in the meeting.

The discussions focused on strengthening coordination among police and security agencies and improving preparedness to deal with emerging security challenges.

Cybercrime, Counter-Intelligence Under Focus

Officials discussed key issues including cybercrime, internal security, counter-intelligence and technology-driven policing. The meeting stressed the need for faster intelligence sharing, better use of technology and stronger inter-agency coordination.

With organised crime, gangster networks, cybercrime and online extremism increasingly crossing state boundaries, officials highlighted the importance of coordinated action and joint preparedness.

Focus on Intelligence-Led Policing

The NRPCC outlined several priorities, including strengthening intelligence-led policing, reinforcing internal and border security, improving community policing and enhancing cyber capabilities.

Regular mock drills, stronger investigation and prosecution mechanisms and institutionalised coordination among agencies were also emphasised.

The meeting reiterated the commitment of police forces and security agencies to intelligence sharing, coordinated action and joint preparedness to tackle emerging threats and ensure the safety of citizens.
