Rain in Hills Brings Relief: Cold Winds Sweep Punjab, Yellow Alert for Storms Tomorrow

Due to rain and hail in the mountains, the weather in Punjab has changed. Cold winds have been blowing since morning. According to the Meteorological Department, on Thursday, a rise of 0.9 degrees in temperature was recorded, which is 2.5 degrees below normal. During this time, Bathinda was the hottest, where the temperature was recorded at 39.3 degrees.

Today (May 1), there is no alert regarding the weather. The weather is expected to remain dry. Meanwhile, from tomorrow until May 6, there is a possibility of rain and storms. A yellow alert has also been issued in this regard.

In the northern and eastern parts of the state, the maximum temperature is expected to remain between 34 and 36°C. In the central parts, it may remain between 36 and 38 degrees, and in the southwestern and southern parts, it may remain between 38 and 40 degrees. This week, the maximum temperature in the state is expected to be around normal.

Rain record in two districts

According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance could affect the Western Himalayan region from May 2. However, the heat wave disappeared in the last 24 hours. Rain has been recorded in Ludhiana and Pathankot. Pathankot recorded 3.8 mm of rain.

All districts have temperatures below 40 degrees

In Punjab, the temperature in 10 districts remained between 35 and 40 degrees. Six districts experienced a drop in temperature. In Chandigarh (City), the temperature was recorded at 36.5 degrees, an increase of 2.7 degrees. In Amritsar, the temperature was 33.0 degrees, a decrease of 1.1 degrees. In Ludhiana, the temperature was recorded at 35.6 degrees, an increase of 1.6 degrees. In Patiala, the temperature was 38.1 degrees, an increase of 1.6 degrees.

In Pathankot, it was recorded at 30.2 degrees, no change occurred. In Bathinda, the temperature was 39.3 degrees, which is the highest. In Faridkot, it was recorded at 35.5 degrees, a decrease of 1.7 degrees. In Gurdaspur, the temperature was 35.5 degrees, an increase of 4.0 degrees. In Nawanshahr, it was recorded at 34.4 degrees, an increase of 3.8 degrees.

In Anandpur Sahib, the temperature was recorded at 39.3 degrees, with no change. In Fazilka, the temperature was 35.4 degrees, showing a drop of 2.2 degrees. In Ferozepur, it was recorded at 34.9 degrees, with a decrease of 0.6 degrees. In Hoshiarpur, the temperature was 34.0 degrees, with an increase of 1.5 degrees. In Sahnewal, it was recorded at 33.2 degrees, with no change.

In Mohali, the temperature was 35.8 degrees, with an increase of 2.8 degrees. In Pathankot, it was recorded at 28.8 degrees, showing a drop of 4.1 degrees. In Ropar, the temperature was 35.4 degrees, with an increase of 3.2 degrees. In Bhakra Dam, it was recorded at 32.2 degrees, with no change. In Rupnagar, the temperature was 34.4 degrees, with an increase of 0.6 degrees.

Two days of light to moderate rain

According to Surendra Pal, Director of the Meteorological Department Chandigarh, there is a possibility of light rain in some different areas of the state on May 2 and 3. In some places, the rain may continue. In the next 3 days, the maximum temperature is likely to increase by about 2 to 3°C. After that, the temperature may drop by 3 to 5°C. Between May 3 and 6, some areas of the state may experience storms/lightning along with strong winds blowing at a speed of 40–50 km/h.
