We Punjabis have a peculiar habit: we simply must taste everything at least once—even if it happens to be poison. In 2022, Punjab tasted the poison of deceit— specifically, that served in the name of the Aam Aadmi Party. Prior to that came the 10-year tenure of the Shiromani Akali Dal—a period that no ordinary Punjabi is ever likely to forget. It is Punjab’s misfortune that it has repeatedly fallen victim to such deceptions—sometimes under the pretext of appointing a Dalit Deputy Chief Minister, and at other times under the promise of providing a pension to every woman over the age of eighteen.
The Dalit community, too, feels cheated, as no concrete, tangible, or results-oriented work has been undertaken under the SC SubPlan. The Aam Aadmi Party government owes the public an explanation: how many of the promises made during the election campaign have actually been fulfilled? The law and order situation in the state continues to deteriorate steadily.
There has been a surge in gangster activity and criminal incidents across Punjab, fueling a growing sense of insecurity among ordinary citizens. The manner in which law and order were allegedly compromised during the recent municipal elections raises serious questions regarding the integrity of the democratic system. Amidst this atmosphere, the people of Punjab look towards Prime Minister Modi with immense hope—hoping that, just as the “Mafia Raj” was dismantled in Uttar Pradesh, and infiltrators and insurgents were eradicated in Assam, the BJP—under the leadership of Kewal Singh—will similarly put an end to gangsterism in Punjab and restore its crumbling law and order infrastructure.
Kewal Singh Dhillon is an astute organizer and a seasoned, senior leader who possesses a deep understanding of both Punjab and “Punjabiyat” (the Punjabi ethos). His vision centers on revitalizing industries in Punjab, fostering an environment of “Ease of Doing Business,” and promoting women’s empowerment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s affection for—and commitment to—Punjab is not confined merely to words; rather, it is clearly evident in his decisions and initiatives. From launching a direct train service to Varanasi on the occasion of Sant Ravidas Jayanti to inaugurating the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, and extending financial assistance to Punjab during recent floods—on numerous occasions, the Modi government has demonstrated its respect for Punjab’s interests and its faith.
The Aam Aadmi Party government’s two campaigns—”Yudh Nashiyan Virudh” (War Against Drugs) and “Gangstran Te Vaar” (Strike Against Gangsters)— have failed miserably. To address this, once a BJP “Double Engine” government is formed, a massive campaign against drugs will be launched in a mission-mode approach. Every home, every family, and every village will become an integral part of this movement.
Just as the Modi government successfully abrogated Article 370 and struck a decisive blow against seemingly intractable issues like Naxalism, the time has now come to completely uproot the drug mafia and narcotics networks from Punjab. Furthermore, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has already signaled that in states where the BJP’s vote share exceeds 18%, the party invariably reaches a position to form the government. Today, the elderly, the youth, and the young generation in Punjab are seriously discussing the BJP, as they have begun to realize that comprehensive transformation and a new revolution in development within Punjab are possible only under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi
