Paras Ram (62), the Sarpanch of the Gram Panchayat of the nearby village of Nangal, died in a road accident near the village. He was a close associate of the late Jathedar Makhan Singh Nangal, a senior Akali leader, and after his death, his son Pratap Singh Nangal became permanently associated with the former Sarpanch.
According to information, Sarpanch Paras Ram was going from Nathe Wala to village Nangal on a motorcycle when his motorcycle collided with a tractor-trolley at Chameli Wale junction. During this, he sustained very serious injuries.
He was taken to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.
On this occasion, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Mantar Singh Brar, Jathedar Sher Singh Mandwala, Congress leader Shahbaz Singh Sandhu, senior Akali leader Pratap Singh Nangal, Sarpanch Dilbagh Singh Chameli, and former Panch Tirath Singh expressed grief.
