Punjab Govt issues fresh guidelines for reopening of schools and colleges after floods

Chandigarh, Sept 7: The Punjab government has issued important instructions regarding the reopening of educational institutions across the state in light of the recent floods. As per the latest directive, all government, private, and aided schools, colleges, and universities will reopen as usual from tomorrow (September 8), with some key exceptions and safety measures in place.

     Key Guidelines Issued:

•Educational Institutions to Reopen as Scheduled
All government, private, and aided institutions will function normally from September 8. However, in flood-affected areas, the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district will have the authority to decide whether to keep any institution closed based on local conditions.

•Safety Compliance Mandatory for Private Schools
All private school administrators must ensure that school buildings and classrooms are fully safe before reopening. The safety of students and teachers must be the top priority.

•Govt Schools Closed for Students on Sept 8
While students in government schools will have a holiday on September 8, all teachers are required to report to duty. They will carry out cleaning and sanitation work with the help of School Management Committees (SMCs), Panchayats, Municipal Councils, and Corporations.

    •Thorough Inspection of School Buildings
Teachers must conduct a detailed inspection of the school premises. If any damage, risk, or defect is found, it must be immediately reported to the Deputy Commissioner and Engineering Department of the district for prompt action.

    •Full Reopening on September 9
All government schools will reopen fully for students from September 9, following the completion of safety inspections and cleaning.
