Punjab Secretariat, Religious sites including Jalandhar’s Devi Talab Mandir receives bomb threat, Police on high alert

The Punjab Secretariat has received another bomb threat. The threatening email sent to the Secretariat has warned of a bomb blast. A similar email threatening to blow up the Secretariat was sent earlier. Threats have also been issued to famous religious sites across the state.

Police and security agencies have been alerted following the threat. The entire complex is being searched, while an investigation has been launched to ascertain the identity and source of the email sender.

A massive search operation has been launched in the Secretariat complex and surrounding areas. Security agencies have thoroughly searched various parts of the building. However, no suspicious items were recovered during the initial investigation.

Security at the Secretariat was beefed up in view of the threat. Additional police were deployed at the entry and exit points, and visitors were thoroughly checked. Officials continued to monitor the entire development

Threat to temples across Punjab

The message mentioned several religious locations across Punjab, including temples in Amritsar, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Bathinda, and Patiala.  Durgiana Mandir, Amritsar, Mukteshwar, Pathankot, Devi Talab Mandir in  Jalandhar, Maisar Mandir in Bathinda and Kali Devi Temple of Patiala  have been mentioned in the threatening email received.
