Punjab shrouded in dense fog, no hope of relief from cold in coming days

Dense fog has enveloped Punjab and Chandigarh since late last night, resulting in extremely low visibility. Vehicles have to drive with their headlights on. According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Center, similar dry weather conditions are expected to persist for the next seven days, with dense fog continuing to occur during the morning and night.

However, winds will be strong and cold starting today. This is mainly due to the fresh snowfall in the hilly regions. According to the Meteorological Department, the lack of rain is likely to lead to increased pollution along with the fog.

Relief from the sun on Monday
There was considerable relief from the fog on Monday morning; as soon as the sun rose, the weather cleared up, providing some respite from the cold. Some relief is expected today as well, but it may only be for a short period during the day. While the strong, cold winds are expected to dissipate the fog, there will be little relief from the cold. The biting cold is likely to intensify and will persist even in the sunshine.

On Monday, a truck, a Punjab Roadways bus, and a private bus collided at PAP Chowk in Jalandhar. The Punjab Roadways bus first hit the truck, and then collided with the private bus. The Punjab Roadways bus was severely damaged, with its front end completely wrecked.

Meanwhile, a Baba Farid University bus collided with a truck parked on the roadside near Thehri on the Giddarbaha-Malout road. The bus was carrying university staff and students.

Lowest temperature in Ludhiana
According to the Meteorological Department’s data, the maximum temperature on Monday was 24.1 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.8 degrees Celsius. The lowest temperature in Punjab on Monday was recorded in Ludhiana at 7.2 degrees Celsius.
