Punjab Bureau of Investigation Forms New SIT in 328 Missing Saroops Case

To expedite the investigation into the 328 missing saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the Punjab Bureau of Investigation has constituted a new Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe FIR No. 168 dated December 7, 2025.

The case regarding the 328 missing saroops was registered at Police Station ‘C’ Division, Amritsar, under Sections 295, 295-A, 409, 465, and 120-B of the IPC.

New SIT Constituted in 328 Missing Saroops Case

The fresh order revokes three earlier directives and establishes a new SIT to investigate the 328 missing saroops case under senior supervision.

The SIT will function under the oversight of Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Police Commissioner, Amritsar.

Nanak Singh, IPS, has been appointed Chairman of the SIT probing the 328 missing saroops matter.

Full Support for SIT Probing 328 Missing Saroops

The order clearly states that the Amritsar Police Commissioner will provide complete logistical and administrative support to ensure a fair, scientific, and expeditious investigation into the 328 missing saroops case.

The SIT may also include additional officers if required to further investigate the 328 missing saroops.

Order Issued from Chandigarh

The directive forming the SIT in the 328 missing saroops case was issued by L.K. Yadav, IPS, from Chandigarh, with copies sent to all concerned officials.

The entire Punjab is now closely watching the progress of the 328 missing saroops investigation, as several questions have already been raised regarding the matter.
