Punjab Weather Alert: Thunderstorms, Strong Winds Expected Over Next Two Days

The weather in Punjab is rapidly changing, with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds of up to 30-40 kilometers per hour expected in several districts over the next two days. Dry weather is forecast for March 28, while rain is expected to return across the state on March 29.

Thursday Evening Weather Changes

According to the Meteorological Department, after a sunny afternoon on Thursday, light to moderate rain is possible in the evening, accompanied by strong winds of 30-40 kilometers per hour. The department has issued an alert for 13 districts today. On Friday, eight districts are also on alert for thunderstorms and strong winds, with light to moderate rain expected in many areas.

Gurdaspur was recorded as the hottest district in the state, while Bathinda was the coldest, with a maximum temperature of 31.5°C and a minimum of 12.5°C over the past 24 hours.

Thunderstorm and Strong Wind Warnings Issued

The Meteorological Department has predicted strong winds in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, Barnala, Mansa, and Sangrur. Light to moderate rain is also expected at various locations in these districts.

Thunderstorms are expected to persist, leading to sudden cold weather due to strong winds. Lightning strikes in open areas and potential damage to standing crops are also possible.

Southwestern Districts to Receive Rain on Friday

A combination of strong winds, thunderstorms, and rain is forecast in the southwestern districts of Punjab on Friday. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for thunderstorms, lightning, and winds up to 30-40 km per hour in eight districts.

Specific alerts have been issued for Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, and Mansa, with light to moderate rain also possible in Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga, Bathinda, and Mansa.
