Chandigarh: A cold wave is now sweeping through Punjab and Chandigarh. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for today, November 30, and tomorrow. This alert has been issued for seven districts. Minimum temperatures are steadily falling. The state’s average minimum temperature has dropped by 0.2 degrees in the last 24 hours.
It has now reached close to normal temperatures. Faridkot was the coldest place in Punjab, recording a low of 2.9 degrees Celsius.
Weather changed due to active western disturbance
According to the Meteorological Department, a western disturbance has activated from northern Pakistan and is now affecting the upper winds around northern Punjab. This could lead to changes in the weather in the coming days.
The seven districts expected to experience a cold wave today include Ferozepur, Faridkot, Muktsar, Fazilka, Bathinda, Moga, and Jalandhar. The weather is expected to remain dry during this time.
Nights will be colder in the next three days.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain dry next week. Light to moderate fog may occur in some areas of the state. Night temperatures are expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees in the next three days. After this, the temperature will not change significantly.
