Fog increases problems in 3 districts of Punjab, temperature above normal in Chandigarh

Punjab and Chandigarh are experiencing bright sunshine during the day. The weather is also dry, causing temperatures to rise. The maximum temperature has increased by one degree, reaching 4.5 degrees above normal. The highest temperature was recorded at 29.1 degrees in Bathinda. The weather department predicts the weather will remain dry until March 2.

People are troubled by fog in three districts

According to the weather department, although the weather has cleared, fog is still prevalent in the Malwa, Doaba, and Majha regions, causing accidents. The weather department recorded dense fog in Amritsar, Patiala, and Adampur on Tuesday. Visibility was zero in Amritsar and 20 meters in Patiala, causing inconvenience to people.

Less than normal rainfall in many districts

According to the weather department, rainfall has varied significantly in different districts since January 1. Two districts have received more than normal rainfall. These include Fatehgarh Sahib (86% more) and Gurdaspur (39% more). On the other hand, two districts, Muktsar (-89%), Fazilka (-87%), and Ferozepur (-86%), continue to experience severe rainfall deficits.

Worryingly, in February alone, the entire state has received 97% less rainfall than average, with major districts like Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Jalandhar recording no rainfall so far this month, leaving the state’s overall seasonal rainfall 19% below normal.

Temperatures will rise by two to three degrees.

Surendra Pal, Director of the Chandigarh Meteorological Department, stated that the weather in the state is likely to remain dry in the coming days. He added that no major change in minimum temperatures is expected for the next five days.
