Punjab, Chandigarh Weather to Stay Dry Till March 13; Temperatures Likely to Rise

Chandigarh: The weather in Punjab and Chandigarh is expected to remain dry until March 13th. No rain is expected. The temperature in the state has dropped slightly by 0.3 degrees in the last 24 hours, but it remains 5.9 degrees above normal.

The highest temperature is expected to be 33 degrees in Faridkot. The Meteorological Department has advised people to remain alert as temperatures are rising. Bathinda recorded 14.0°C.

Zero rainfall was recorded in March.

Chandigarh also felt the heat, recording a high of 32.7°C, 6.4°C above normal. Other major cities like Ludhiana recorded 32.6°C and Amritsar 31.4°C.

Interestingly, amid this rising heat, no rain fell in any part of the state, with all stations recording 0.0 mm of rainfall. This early March is proving to be quite hot for Punjab residents.

The old Western Disturbance weakened.

However, there are signs of a change in the weather in North India, including Punjab. According to the Meteorological Department, the wind swirl over Rajasthan has now reached Haryana and the surrounding areas. Strong westerly winds are also blowing in the upper sky, affecting the weather. The old Western Disturbance coming from the west has now weakened and moved on.

However, a new Western Disturbance may impact the western Himalayan regions starting March 9th. This system is expected to cause a change in weather in Punjab and Chandigarh in the coming days. Cloudiness may increase, and light rain or drizzle may occur in some areas, though this is unclear. This change in weather may lead to a slight drop in daytime temperatures and a slight chill in the air.

Temperature will rise by two to three degrees in five days

Maximum temperatures are expected to rise by about 2 to 3°C over the next five days, and there will be no significant change after that.
