Chances of rain in entire Punjab today: Orange alert in 10 districts; Temperature 2.7 degrees below normal

Amritsar, July 7: An orange alert has been issued for rain in Punjab today. The same situation is expected on Tuesday as well. After the rain on Sunday, the temperature in the state has fallen below normal.

The Meteorological Department has predicted that this year, the entire state is likely to receive more than normal rainfall during the monsoon season. According to the Meteorological Centre, till Sunday morning, 3.5 mm of rain had occurred in the state.

At the same time, it rained in many districts till Sunday afternoon. Due to which the maximum temperature of the state has decreased by 1.8 degrees, after which the maximum average temperature of the state was recorded 2.7 degrees below normal. Bathinda was the hottest city, where a temperature of 35 degrees was recorded.

Rain alert in the entire state today

Today, an orange alert has been issued for rain in 10 districts of Punjab, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib and Rupnagar. Apart from this, a yellow alert has been issued in the entire state.

On Tuesday, this alert will be limited to Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur. While yellow alert has been issued for Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib.

Monsoon situation in Punjab

Monsoon rains are above normal this year in Punjab. According to the data from 1st June to 6th July, Punjab has received 89.7 mm of rain, whereas the normal rainfall during these days is 77.4 mm. This rainfall is 16% more than normal.

At the same time, from July 1 to 6, the state has received 60 mm of rain, which is 71 percent more than normal.

Amritsar- It is expected to be cloudy and rainy. The temperature may remain between 26 to 30 degrees.

Jalandhar- It is expected to be cloudy and rainy. The temperature may remain between 26 to 30 degrees.

Ludhiana- It is expected to be cloudy and rainy. The temperature may remain between 27 to 30 degrees.

Patiala- It is expected to be cloudy and rainy. The temperature may remain between 27 to 30 degrees.

Mohali- It is expected to be cloudy and rainy. The temperature may remain between 25 to 29 degrees.
