Punjab Weather: Rain likely in Punjab and Chandigarh, IMD issues yellow alert

Due to the influence of westerly winds, Punjab is likely to witness a partial change in its weather on Monday. The Meteorological Department has forecast light rain with thunder, lightning and gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph in eight districts of the state. However, there is no warning of any major weather hazard in most districts.

According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain and strong winds are likely to occur in Bathinda, Mansa, Muktsar, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Moga and Barnala districts of south and southwest Punjab on Sunday. A watch category warning has been issued for these districts. However, the weather is expected to remain normal in the remaining districts of the state.

Patiala remains the hottest

The maximum temperature in Punjab on Sunday rose by an average of 5.4 degrees Celsius, although it still remained about 2.2 degrees Celsius below normal. The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Patiala at 38.1 degrees Celsius.

June 17: Weather will remain dry in most parts of the state. Daytime temperatures may gradually increase.

June 18: Weather is expected to remain clear across Punjab. There is little chance of rain and the maximum temperature may increase by 2 to 4 degrees.
