No Change in Punjab Weather; Stubble Burning Sees 82% Decline

Chandigarh: There is no change in the temperature in Punjab. The state’s maximum temperature remains near normal. The Meteorological Center says that there is no change in the weather for the next five days, and the weather will remain dry. The highest temperature in the state was recorded at 35.2 degrees in Bathinda.

The state’s minimum temperature is still 1.6 degrees warmer than normal. Bathinda also recorded a minimum temperature of 15.6 degrees.

Reduction in stubble burning cases

Punjab has seen a significant decline in stubble burning cases this season. On Saturday, the state reported 33 stubble burning incidents, the highest single-day figure in the current Kharif season. A total of 241 cases have been reported so far, compared to 1,348 by the same date last year and 1,407 in 2023. This represents a significant drop in the figures.

23 cases were reported in Tarn Taran in a day.

District Tarn Taran was the worst affected with 23 cases reported in 24 hours. So far this season, 88 cases have been reported in Tarn Taran, 80 in Amritsar, 16 in Ferozepur, 11 in Patiala, 7 in Sangrur, 6 in Kapurthala, 5 in Barnala, 4 each in Malerkotla, Gurdaspur and Jalandhar, 3 in SAS Nagar, 2 each in Bathinda, Faridkot, Fazilka, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, while 1 each in Fatehgarh Sahib, Mansa and SBS Nagar. At least one stubble burning incident has been reported in 19 out of 23 districts of the state.
