Punjab Weather Update: Drop in average temperature, pollution persists

Temperatures in Punjab are expected to drop in the coming days. Snowfall is expected in the upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh following the activation of a Western Disturbance. If this happens, winds from the mountains will bring a slight drop in temperatures across the state, increasing the cold. Pollution is currently troubling people in the state, but relief is expected in the first week of November.

Average temp dropped 

According to the Meteorological Center, Punjab’s average temperature is seeing a slight drop for the third consecutive day. The average maximum temperature has dropped by 0.4 degrees and the minimum temperature by 0.1 degrees.

However, the weather remains dry. The highest temperature in the state was recorded at 33 degrees in Bathinda, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 15 degrees in Faridkot.

Slight improvement in pollution 

Punjab witnessed a slight improvement in pollution on Monday. The average Air Quality Index (AQI) of all cities in the state was found to be below 200. The state’s average AQI also dropped from 156 to 153. Experts say this is only a temporary relief. Relief is expected only after a good rainfall in the state.

According to the Meteorological Center’s forecast, cloud cover is expected in Punjab from November 6th. If it rains during this period, it will provide relief from pollution. However, this will lead to a rapid drop in temperatures. Night temperatures will also drop sharply after rain in the state.
