Dry weather conditions have now set in across Punjab and Chandigarh. While mornings and evenings remain chilly, strong sunshine during the afternoon is creating almost summer-like conditions in many areas.

Over the past 24 hours, the state’s maximum temperature has risen by 0.1 degrees Celsius and is now 3.6 degrees above normal. The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Faridkot, where the mercury touched 31 degrees Celsius — the highest recorded so far this season.

Temperatures Above 25°C in All Districts

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain completely clear until February 28. However, fog has been reported in several places.

In Amritsar, dense fog reduced visibility to less than 150 meters. Meanwhile, in Sangrur, fog led to a collision involving ten vehicles on a highway. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, although the vehicles were severely damaged.

All districts in Punjab have recorded maximum temperatures above 25.4 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh registered a maximum temperature of 27.2 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures across the region ranged between 9.6 degrees Celsius and 13.7 degrees Celsius.

Possibility of Fog in Some Areas

Surender Pal, Director of the Meteorological Department, stated that dry weather conditions are likely to persist across the state. However, light to moderate fog may occur in some areas.

No significant change in minimum temperatures is expected over the next five days. Meanwhile, maximum temperatures are likely to gradually increase by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next seven days.
