Punjab Weather Update: Light rain predicted in these 9 districts

The weather has changed in Punjab and Chandigarh due to the activation of a Western Disturbance. Light rain occurred in many areas overnight. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in nine districts today. Fog is also expected at isolated locations.

The state’s average maximum temperature has decreased by 0.2 degrees in the last 24 hours, reaching close to normal. The highest temperature of 37 degrees was recorded in Chandigarh. 321 new cases of stubble burning have been reported. Khanna’s air is the most polluted, with an AQI of 223.

Rain likely in these districts today

According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is expected at isolated locations in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Rupnagar, and SAS Nagar today. Night temperatures will decrease three days from today, dropping by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

Air Quality deteriorates 

Although administrative staff are working to prevent stubble burning, the air quality is still being affected. At 7 a.m. today, Amritsar’s AQI was recorded at 137. Bathinda’s AQI was 106, Jalandhar’s AQI was 133, Khanna’s AQI was 223, Ludhiana’s AQI was 167, Mandi Gobindgarh’s AQI was 130, and Patiala’s AQI was 134. Rupnagar’s air remained the cleanest, with an AQI of 74.
