Punjab Weather Update: No alert by IMD, Schools to open from today

No alert has been issued by the India Meteorological Center (IMD) in Punjab today. Similar weather is expected for the next 5 days. However, except for some districts of Malwa, normal rainfall will continue in other Punjab. Along with this, a slight increase in temperature can also be seen.

School to open from today

After 12 days, schools and colleges in Punjab are reopening today. Educational institutions in flood-affected areas will remain closed till further notice. The principal will be responsible for taking stock of the school’s conditions.

The condition of the school is fine, and it is completely safe for children and teachers. After investigating this, all schools will send their report to the District Education Officer. The government’s decision is also clear that if any incident occurs, the responsibility will be with the school administration or the principal.

The Punjab government is also alert about the flood conditions. Before PM Narendra Modi’s visit tomorrow, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is going to hold a cabinet meeting today despite ill health. He is admitted in Fortis Hospital, Mohali. During this time, he will connect with the cabinet through video conferencing from the hospital itself. On the other hand, all the ministers will gather at his residence.

Effect of flood in 23 districts: 23 districts are affected by floods. These include Amritsar, Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Malerkotla, Mansa, Moga, Pathankot, Patiala, Rupnagar, Sangrur, SAS Nagar, Sri Muktsar Sahib, SBS Nagar and Tarn Taran.
