Punjab Weather Update: Rain alert in districts bordering Himachal, Faridkot remains hottest

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Punjab today as well. This time more rain is expected in the districts bordering Himachal. There was less rain in the last ten days, but there is a possibility of good rain for three days this week.

According to the Meteorological Center, light rain occurred in some districts yesterday, due to which the temperature has increased slightly by an average of 1.2 degrees Celsius. Still the temperature is around normal. The highest temperature was recorded in Faridkot at 41.6 degrees Celsius.

The mercury remained around 35 degrees in many districts of the state. The temperature was 34.2 ° C in Ludhiana, 35.5 ° C in Patiala and 34.6 ° C in Amritsar. Amritsar received 0.5 mm and Patiala received 0.4 mm of rain.

The weather will remain normal for 48 hours after today

According to the Meteorological Department’s warning, heavy rain is expected in Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot and Nawanshahr districts on August 11, while the weather will remain normal in other districts. On the other hand, the weather is expected to be normal in entire Punjab on 12th and 13th August. After which, a warning of heavy rain has been issued again in these districts on 14th-15th August.

Monsoon is weakening in Punjab

Monsoon is weakening in Punjab. From 1st June to 10th August, the state has received 7% less rainfall than normal during the monsoon season. Normally, 279.1 mm rainfall is received in the state during these days, but only 259.9 mm rainfall has been received during these days.

On the other hand, if we talk about 1st to 10th August, then 32% less rainfall than normal has been received during these ten days. Whereas normally, 63.2 mm rainfall is received in the state, but till now only 43.3 mm rainfall has been received here.

Weather in major cities of Punjab today

Amritsar- Light clouds will cover, rain is expected. Temperature may remain between 26 to 34 degrees.

Jalandhar- Light clouds will cover, rain is expected. Temperatures may remain between 25 to 33 degrees.

Ludhiana- There will be light clouds, rain is expected. Temperatures may remain between 27 to 31 degrees.

Patiala- There will be light clouds, rain is expected. Temperatures may remain between 28 to 30 degrees.

Mohali- There will be light clouds, rain is expected. Temperatures may remain between 29 to 32 degrees.
