Sluggish Monsoon in August as no alert for today, weather to change from tomorrow

There is no alert regarding rain in Punjab even today. The chances of rain in the state are also very low. But there is a possibility of a change in the weather from Sunday. It is estimated that some districts of the state will receive good rain on Sunday. At the same time, the month of August is going dry in the state. Due to which the Meteorological Department has kept it in the red zone.

According to the information released by the Meteorological Center Chandigarh, light rain was seen in some districts of the state yesterday. After which there has been a jump of 3.1 degrees in the average maximum temperature of the state. After which the maximum temperature remains 2 degrees higher than normal. Bathinda remained the hottest in the state. Whose maximum temperature was recorded at 37.7.

At the same time, till 5.30 pm yesterday, 0.1 mm of rain was seen in Pathankot and 0.5 mm in Rupnagar.

Sluggish monsoon increased concerns

While the monsoon is fully active across the country, it is getting weaker in Punjab. While the monsoon rained 9 percent less in the month of July, the initial days of August are even worse. From August 1 to August 8, 22 percent less rain than normal has been recorded.

While the state receives 51 mm of rain from August 1 to August 8, only 39.7 mm of rain has been recorded so far. The Meteorological Department has then placed the state in the red zone. On the other hand, if we talk about the entire monsoon season, the state has received 4 percent less rain from June 1 to August 8.

Between June 1 and August 8, the state has received 256.4 mm of rain, whereas normally there should have been 266.9 percent rainfall here.
