Punjab Records Unseasonal Heat; Temperatures Cross 33°C

Punjab is experiencing summer-like conditions as temperatures across the state continue to remain significantly above normal. Although the average maximum temperature in the state recorded a slight dip of 0.3°C in the last 24 hours, it is still about 7.5°C above normal, according to the Meteorological Department.

Patiala Hottest at 33.2°C

Several districts in Punjab have recorded maximum temperatures above 30°C. Patiala registered the highest temperature in the state at 33.2°C, which is considerably higher than the seasonal average.

Other major cities also reported high temperatures:

Ferozepur: 33.0°C

Ludhiana: 32.8°C

Amritsar: 32.6°C

Night temperatures have also risen slightly, with Bathinda recording a minimum temperature of 13.9°C.

Dry Weather Expected Till March 12

The weather department has predicted dry conditions across Punjab until March 12, with no chances of rainfall during this period. No weather alerts have been issued so far.

Heat Rising Since Late February

The rise in temperature began in late February due to strong sunshine and weak western disturbances, which failed to bring rain to the region. As a result, temperatures in all major cities of the state have climbed above the 30°C mark.

100% Rainfall Deficit in March So Far

Punjab has recorded no rainfall between March 1 and March 6, 2026. Districts including Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, and Pathankot have not received a single drop of rain during this period.

According to the Meteorological Department, the state usually receives around 6.1 mm of rainfall by this time in March. However, the absence of rain has resulted in a 100% rainfall deficit so far this month.

Temperatures to Remain Stable for Five Days

Meteorological Department Director Surender Pal Singh said that the weather is likely to remain dry across the state. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged for the next five days, after which a slight drop of 2–3°C may occur over the following two days.
