Punjab Weather Update: Yellow alert across states, strong winds along with thunderstorm predicted

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in Punjab today, which is limited to four districts adjoining Himachal Pradesh, but there is a possibility of rain throughout the state. Rainfall occurred in many districts on the previous day, which brought some relief from the heat, and the average maximum temperature dropped by 1.7 degrees, although the temperature remains around normal.

The highest temperature was recorded at 38 degrees in Bathinda. An alert has been issued for strong winds (30-40 kmph) and lightning along with moderate rain in Sangrur, Patiala, Mohali and Fatehgarh Sahib till 1 pm today.

Rain across Punjab 

Talking about the rain figures, Ludhiana received 3 mm, Pathankot 10 mm, Hoshiarpur 1 mm, Ropar recorded the highest 92 mm and Mohali 55.5 mm of rain, while the weather remained normal in other districts.

The weather will be normal for the next 4 days, no alert

A yellow alert has been issued for rain in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr and Rupnagar in Punjab today. After today, the monsoon is again slowing down for the next 4 days. No alert has been issued in the state for four days.

But, a new phase of monsoon is starting from August 3. Good rain is expected again in the state. According to the Meteorological Center, there has been a decline in the monsoon in the month of July.

 19 percent less rain in July

The month of July was not good for Punjab. While good rain is being seen across the country, Punjab has seen 19 percent less rain than normal between July 1 and 28. It is estimated that the month of August will be good for Punjab.

From July 1 to 28, 117.7 percent of the clouds have rained in the state, whereas 144.9 mm of rain is normally seen during these days.

Weather in major cities of Punjab today

Amritsar – Light clouds and rain are expected today. The temperature can remain between 28 to 33 percent.

Jalandhar – Light clouds and rain are expected today. The temperature can remain between 28 to 32 percent.

Ludhiana – Light clouds and rain are expected today. The temperature can remain between 27 to 31 percent.

Patiala – Light clouds and rain are expected today. The temperature can remain between 26 to 30 percent.

Mohali – Light clouds and rain are expected today. The temperature can remain between 26 to 29 percent.
