Yellow alert issued for dense fog in 15 districts of Punjab, no rain likely

The Meteorological Department, Chandigarh, has issued a yellow alert for dense to very dense fog in 15 districts of Punjab today. This condition will prevail during the morning and evening hours. However, no alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department from tomorrow until February 8th. There is no possibility of rain.

The maximum temperature has increased by 1.4 degrees Celsius. It has now reached near normal levels. The lowest minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bathinda. However, no significant temperature change is expected over the next 48 hours.

Dense Fog Alert in These Districts

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry. Today, dense to very dense fog is expected in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Patiala, Barnala, and Mansa.

Dense fog is expected in Fazilka, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Moga, Muktsar, and Bathinda.

Meanwhile, dense fog was recorded in Patiala, Halwara, Bathinda, and Faridkot on Monday. Visibility ranged between 40 and 100 meters during this period.

A Western Disturbance will become active on February 5th
According to the Meteorological Department, there is currently a Western Disturbance over Punjab and the adjoining Haryana region, at an altitude of approximately 3.1 kilometers. This can be understood as a region of swirling clouds and winds.

The previous disturbance, which was at an altitude of approximately 5.8 kilometers in the upper atmosphere, has now moved towards the east-northeast direction. A new Western Disturbance is now visible in the upper atmosphere (5.8 kilometers altitude). Another new Western Disturbance may affect Northwest India from the night of February 5, 2026.
