1.5-year-old girl swept away in Sutlej river

The father of the girl tried to catch the girl but the girl swept away in the strong current of water.

Nangal: In a tragic incident, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl swept away in the strong flow of water. Both husband and wife along with their two daughters had come to take bath in Sutlej river after paying obeisance at the temple. While bathing, the girl escaped from her mother’s hand and swept away in the strong flow of water.

The father of the girl tried to catch the girl but the girl swept away in the strong current of water. Divers were called to the spot by the family and efforts are being made to find the girl. The family has registered their complaint of the entire incident at the Nawan Nangal police station. The police are investigating the entire incident.

Talking to reporters, the family members said that they belonged to Palsed village of Tehsil Naina Devi, Himachal Pradesh. Due to their work, they were living in a rented house in Shivalik Avenue Colony of Nangal. Late evening, they had come with their two daughters to pay obeisance at the Baba Tahab Temple located on the banks of the Sutlej River near the Nangal Dam.

This family went to take a bath in the river Sutlej after offering prayers. One daughter is said to be one and half years old and the other is said to be four years old. The couple took their daughters while bathing in the river. While descending the stairs of the river Sutlej, the foot of the mother of the girl slipped and the one-and-a-half-year-old girl swept away in the rapid flow of water.

The diving team was called by the family, who tried to find him in the water for a long time, but failed and due to darkness, the diver stopped his search operation.
