12-year-old dies dies of head injuries after iron grill falls on him in Mohali

The deceased child has been identified as Ashish. Sohana police station has registered a case against unknown people

Mohali: On Monday (6 January) in Mohali, Punjab, an iron grill fell into the street from a 6-storey under-construction building in Mouli village in Sector-80. In this accident, a 12-year-old child passing through the street died on the spot. He had two friends with him, but they narrowly escaped. CCTV video of the incident has also surfaced.

The deceased child has been identified as Ashish. Sohana police station has registered a case against unknown people under section 106 of BNS in this case. At present, no one has been arrested.

Ashish’s father Pankaj said that Ashish’s friends came running to him. He told that the iron grill fell on Ashish’s head. When he reached the spot, the contractor of the building and the labour were watching the spectacle. A Sikh man from the nearby Gurudwara Sahib brought his car and took his son to the hospital. There the doctors declared him dead after examination.

On Monday, the mason was fitting the grill. It fell due to negligence of the contractor. The contractor had neither tied any net nor closed the road of the street. People were passing through the street when the iron grill fall and hit the child.
