Out of 150 farmers detained late night from Patiala jail in Punjab, 132 have been released. All were released late at night on Monday. Earlier, in a statement issued by the Punjab government, it was said that they would release the detained farmers soon.
About 150 farmers associated with the farmers’ struggle were lodged in the new district jail of Nabha for the last few days. Who were brought from Khanauri border on the night of 19 March and locked up. Let us tell you that one of the said 150 farmers had already taken bail. The 132 farmers released from the new district jail Nabha belong to different districts. Jail Superintendent Indrajit Singh Kahlon said that now he has only 17 farmers in custody.
Border vacated after 13 months
Punjab Police had vacated the Shambhu and Khanauri border of Haryana Punjab which was closed for 13 months. During this, the farmers who were seen arguing and fighting with the police were taken into custody with immediate effect. During this, 200 farmers were detained. After which the sheds built by the farmers were demolished with bulldozers.
Earlier, the 7th round of talks between the farmers protesting at Shambhu and Khanauri border and the central government was inconclusive. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Piyush Goyal and Prahlad Joshi along with farmer leaders participated in it.
