19,815 cases settled in National Lok Adalat in Amritsar

Amritsar: Punjab State Legal Services Authority and Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh under the direction of Shri Amarinder Singh Grewal, District and Sessions-cum-Chairman, National Lok Adalat was organized today due to the efforts of Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Amritsar.

 This National Lok Adalat was established at the District Courts of Amritsar and also at Tehsil Ajnala and Baba Bakala Sahib. Checks, banks, land disputes, domestic disputes and almost all other types of cases were settled in this National Lok Adalat.

 For maximum success of this National Lok Adalat, a total of 23 benches were constituted in District Courts, Amritsar and Tehsils Ajnala and Baba Bakala Sahib. Out of which 17 benches were installed in Amritsar courts.

Lok Adalat benches have also been set up by the police department to resolve family disputes.

A total of 22370 cases were kept for hearing by all the benches of this National Lok Adalat, out of which 19815 cases were settled by mutual resignation.

During this, honorable District and Sessions Judge Mr. Amarinder Singh Grewal informed the people about the importance of Lok Adalat.

In Lok Adalat, the decision is made under the resignation of both parties. Cheap and quick justice is available through such people’s courts. There is no appeal from the decision of people’s courts.
