A 23-year-old prisoner died under suspicious circumstances in the Central Jail located in Kapurthala. The deceased has been identified as Gurvinder Singh, son of Harjinder Singh. The deceased’s health deteriorated late at night, after which the Central Jail staff immediately took the prisoner to the Civil Hospital in Kapurthala. The doctors first started his treatment. After some time, Gurvinder Singh was declared dead by the doctors.
Gurvinder’s family was informed about the case
According to the information received, after the death of Gurvinder Singh, the police of the police station Kotwali was immediately informed about the case. The police reached the spot and took the body in their possession, and sent it to the Civil Hospital Kapurthala for post-mortem.
At the same time, information about the whole case was given to the family members of Gurvinder Singh.
At present, it is not clear why this step was taken by Gurvinder Singh and who was on duty near the said barrack at the time of the incident. An investigation is going on on all aspects.
Dr. Ashish Pal Singh, who was on duty in the emergency ward, told the media that the deceased died during treatment at around 1.30 am late at night. The cause of death will be clear after the post-mortem report comes.
