Just a year after his marriage, 25-year-old Harpreet Singh from Faridkot died under mysterious circumstances in Hong Kong. About a week ago, the family received information that their son Harpreet Singh had committed suicide by hanging himself, but family members expressed suspicion that his in-laws, who are permanent residents of Hong Kong, were mentally harassing him.
The family has demanded a proper investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the family is in shock after this incident.
Sukhdeep Kaur, sister of deceased youth Harpreet Singh, said that in December last year, Harpreet got married to a girl named Mahinder Kaur Mahi, a resident of village Har Rai Pur in Bathinda district, who herself and her entire family are permanent residents of Hong Kong.
About six months after the marriage, after her son’s visa came, the girl herself took him with her from India. A few days after the marriage, there was a dispute between the two, after which Harpreet returned once, but the relatives intervened and settled them and both of them went to Hong Kong again.
But after going there, the attitude of his in-laws towards Harpreet changed and considering them an insult, they started mentally harassing Harpreet and started giving various threats and also started threatening him with a compensation of one million dollars, regarding which he kept calling them.
She said that a week ago, they got the news of Harpreet’s death. Harpreet’s postmortem has not been done yet. Family demanded that there should be a proper investigation into Harpreet’s death. Harpreet’s father also said that his son was of very strong character, he could not have committed suicide, there must be some conspiracy behind this which should be investigated and he should get justice.
