3 quintals of suspected beef recovered in Ludhiana, 1 arrested

The police should take strict action against those who smuggle beef.

In Ludhiana, Punjab, the police have arrested a person who supplies beef. The miscreant used to slaughter beef at home. He used to pack the meat and supply it to shops and customers’ homes. The police arrested the accused during patrolling. The police of Jodhewal police station has started investigating the matter. The accused is being questioned.

On receiving the news of finding beef, Shiv Sena Lion’s chief Amit Arora and his companions gathered outside Police Station Basti Jodhewal. Arora said that he demands from the new CP Swapan Sharma that mischievous people should not be allowed to spoil the atmosphere of the city. The police should take strict action against those who smuggle beef.

According to the information, the accused, Mohammad Manzoor is a resident of Mohalla Shimla Colony, Kakowal Road. ASI Karanjit Singh was patrolling with the police party. He was present on Kakowal Road near Bijli Ghar. Then a special informer informed him that Mohammad Manzoor slaughtered cow at his home and packed its meat. He supplies the meat to many shops and customers.

When the police stopped the accused along with his tempo for checking, about 3 quintals of beef were recovered from the accused’s tempo. Mohammad Manzoor was arrested on the spot. He is being questioned as to how many more people are involved with him in this work. To whom does he supply beef in the city?

At present, the police of Jodhewal police station have registered a case against the accused under section BNS 299,196,325 and section 11A of the Animal Cruelty Prevention Act.
