@45.4 degree Celsius Amritsar records maximum temperature in Punjab, IMD predicts alert for thunderstorm

Amritsar: The humid weather has started showing its effect in Punjab. With the increase in humidity, the minimum temperature has seen a decrease of 1.2 degrees, but the maximum temperature of Punjab is still being recorded 5.2 degrees higher. Today the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm and strong winds in many parts of the state. In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a maximum temperature of 45.4 degree celsius on June 18.

No alert has been issued for heat wave in Punjab today. But since morning, a vacuum is being formed in Punjab due to lack of wind. The humidity is increasing therefore respite in the form of rain is expected.

Looking at the situation, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert across the state today. It is estimated that strong winds will blow amid the vacuum situation. Whose speed can reach up to 40 km. This situation is expected to remain till the next day i.e. Thursday.


If strong winds blow or it rains, then it will be a big relief from the heat for Punjab. The temperature will also fall and there will be slight relief from the heat.

Situation will be normal from 21st

Yellow alert for strong winds is still in force in Punjab on 20th June. But from 21st June, the situation in Punjab seems to be getting normal. There will be relief from heat wave, while the temperature can also reach 40 degrees or below.

Monsoon will reach Punjab after 25 June

According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon can knock in Punjab between 25 to 30 June. Monsoon is moving normally towards Central India Gujarat, but if we talk about Central and North-East states, the speed of monsoon is very slow there. If monsoon comes to its normal state in the coming time, then it can knock in Punjab between 25 to 30 June.
