Phillaur: Phillaur Police has achieved a major success by arresting 5 members of a gang planning to rob a petrol pump. Police have recovered 03 motorcycles, 04 mobile phones, 03 scissors and 01 iron rod from them.
Giving information in this regard, Deputy Police Captain Sub Division Phillaur Sarwan Singh Ball (PPS) said that the police team led by Inspector Sanjeev Kapoor arrested the gang members during a special checking operation.
The arrested accused have been identified as Jaskaran Singh alias Jassa (resident Bachhowal), Kamal (resident Mathurapuri), Sanjay Kumar (resident Gara Road), Ravinder Singh (resident Bakkapur) and Jatinder Singh (resident Kang Araya). According to the police, this gang used to commit theft and robbery.
The accused used to rob on the highway by showing the fear of weapons and snatching mobile phones from passersby, especially women. They used to sell them at cheap prices. They also stole motorcycles to satisfy their drug addiction.
During the investigation, the police have traced about 10 incidents. The accused had planned to rob a petrol pump on Navashahar Road, but the police nabbed them before they could do so. Case number 339 dated 16.12.2024 has been registered under sections 399, 402 IPC. Further investigation is being carried out after obtaining police remand.
