Ludhiana: A cyber fraud case came to light in Ludhiana with 72-year-old Rakesh Khanna. Cyber thugs have cheated 11 lakh rupees from the elderly. In this regard, a case has also been registered in the Ludhiana cyber crime police station. The police have initiated the investigation.
Rakesh Khanna, the fraud victim said during the conversation that two days ago he was booking a gas cylinder and when they did not get the cylinder, they went online to complain to the gas company and reached out a number. A person told them to transfer 10 rupees online and said only then they would get the cylinder. That person started chatting with them on WhatsApp, took all the information of their account, and made about 22 transactions of 50-50 thousand, with which 11 lakh rupees were taken out from their account.
A case has been registered by Sarabha Nagar Cybercrime Police Station of Ludhiana regarding this entire matter and action has been taken. Jatinder Singh, in charge of Cyber Crime Sarabha Nagar, said that they are investigating the whole matter thoroughly. Police further asked people to not fall in such traps and contact number only from the official site of the company.
