72-year-old protesting farmer dies at Shambhu-border

After his health deteriorated, the farmer was admitted to the hospital for treatment where he died.

Another farmer who went to Kisan Morcha on Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana died on Friday-Saturday night. After his health deteriorated, the farmer was admitted to the hospital for treatment where he died.

The deceased farmer leader has been identified as Balwinder Singh (72). He was a resident of Moga. Balwinder Singh was the owner of three acres of land. Recently, due to the apathy and neglect of the government, he became part of the farmers movement on the Shambhu border. Balwinder Singh’s health deteriorated suddenly after which he was admitted to hospital. Farmer leaders also paid their tributes to the deceased farmer.

After Balwinder Singh’s death, his family and villagers are in deep mourning. Farmer leaders say that this is a very sad situation as they have to carry the bodies of their loved ones on their shoulders to the village.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that the sacrifices of the martyrs will not go in vain and the government will have to be forced to make pro-farmer labor policies for farmers. Pandher further demanded that the family of the martyred farmer should be given a government job and financial assistance without any delay and the entire debt of the family should be waived.
