Ludhiana:
The pack of stray dogs mauled a 9-year-old boy to death in village Mohi of Ludhiana on Monday.
According to the police, the victim, identified as Sanjeev, had recently come to Punjab from West Bengal to meet his grandparents and when the incident occurred he was playing in the fields.
Shankar Shah, grandfather of the victim, stated that he was working in the fields of field owner Sarabjit Singh, when his grandson Sanjeev went to the adjacent field while playing where pack of stray dogs attacked him.
In the attack, the victim faced severe injuries on neck and ears and when he was rushed to the hospital by his grandfather, Sanjeev succumbed to the injuries.
After receiving the information, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC – Jagraon) Kulpreet Singh, DSP-Dakha Varinder Singh Khosa, and SHO Sudhar Police Station Jaswinder Singh rushed to the village.
They along with the village Sarpanch Tara Singh met the family and assured the family of every possible support from the Punjab Government.
It is pertinent to mention that two months ago, in January, back to back deaths of minor boys were reported in village Hasanpur of Mullanpur Dakha who were mauled to death by the stray dogs. After these two incidents, the administration had launched drive to sterilize the dogs in the villages as well as to remove the dogs from some of the areas.
