Police arrests drug smuggler in Patiala: 1500 narcotic capsules recovers near DCW bridge

Patiala: A youth wanted in a drug smuggling case at Tripri Police Station in Patiala has been arrested by the Anaj Mandi Police team while selling narcotic capsules. This 27-year-old accused, named Rajesh Kumar, was waiting for a customer with 1500 capsules under the DCW bridge.

The team raided and arrested him under the supervision of Shaminder Singh, in charge of CIA Staff Patiala. 12 cases were already going on against Rakesh Kumar, alias Bachi, a resident of Hari Nagar Focal Point.

SSP Varun Sharma said that after 12 police cases were registered, the accused was wanted in a drug smuggling case registered in Tripri in May 2024.

SI Justin Sadiq of CIA staff and his team have arrested another drug smuggler from the Lahori Gate police station area, who has been identified as Naveen Kumar, a resident of Bhim Nagar Safabadi Gate. This 50-year-old accused is a seventh-grader who started smuggling drugs while working as a labourer.

A case of drug smuggling was registered against this accused in Lahori Gate in June 2024, but he started smuggling drugs again as soon as he came out on bail. This accused has been arrested with 610 narcotic capsules near Jhal Sahib Gurudwara Sahib. The SSP said that during the police remand, information will be sought from both of these accused about the person who provided the capsules.
