AAP worker shot at in Jalandhar, old rivalry suspected

Jalandhar: Aam Aadmi Party worker was shot near the village Jandiala Majki in Jalandhar, Punjab. In the incident, 32-year-old Vivek Mattoo, a resident of village Patti Sahan in Jandiala Majki, was injured. Mattoo was shot in the leg. This incident took place yesterday evening at around 4:30 pm.

SHO Suresh Kumar of Police Station City Sadar and Jasvir Chand, in charge of Jandiala Chowki are investigating the case. Aam Aadmi Party worker Vivek Mattoo has been admitted to Civil Hospital, Jalandhar by his family and is undergoing treatment there.

According to the information received, Vivek Mattoo had a rivalry with a youth named Mani Bawa and Billa of the village. There was a fight between the three. Due to this rivalry, the above-accused fired bullets. Police have recovered shells from the crime scene. The accused entered Mattoo’s house and shot him. The accused fired two bullets at Mattoo. One of the bullets hit his leg. At present, Mattu’s condition is out of danger.

In this case, the police of Sadar police station has registered a case against the accused Sukhjeevan Singh, and one of his companions under sections 25,27/54/59 of the Arms Act and attempt to murder.
