AC blasts in Rupnagar’s Gurudwara: 1 dead; 10 injured

A tragic accident took place today at Gurdwara Head Darbar Kot Purana, located in Rupnagar district. When the AC compressor was installed during the tribute ceremony suddenly burst.

Rupnagar, June 3: A tragic accident occurred today at Gurudwara Head Darbar Kot Purana, located in Rupnagar district. During the tribute ceremony, the AC Compressor being installed suddenly exploded. In this horrific accident, a woman died on the spot, while about 10 people were injured. The condition of two of these women is said to be critical.

Identification of the deceased

The deceased has been identified as Kashmir Kaur (62), a resident of Hargobind Nagar, Rupnagar. The seriously injured woman has been identified as Baljeet Kaur of village Bhalyan, who has been referred to PGI Chandigarh.

Let us tell you that today during the last prayer of Sant Baba Khushal Singh in Gurdwara Head Darbar Kot Puran, a large number of devotees were present in Gurudwara Sahib. During this, the compressor of the air conditioner standing there suddenly burst and a fire broke out.

The injured were taken to hospital

The injured were immediately admitted to Parmar Hospital in Rupnagar, where their treatment is ongoing. The incident took place when the devotees had arrived to attend the tribute ceremony organised in memory of Baba Khushal Singh Ji, the head of Gurudwara Sahib.

According to eyewitnesses

During the gathering, a loud explosion was heard suddenly, after which there was chaos. With the help of local people and the Gurudwara Management Committee, the injured were immediately rushed to the hospital. At present, the investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway. A team of experts has reached the spot and the technical aspects are being investigated. According to preliminary estimates, this accident may have happened due to technical fault in the AC or overloading.
