Acid attack on family in Fatehgarh Sahib: 3 injures in horrific assault

All were sleeping in the same room, attacked at midnight, and referred to PGI. 

Fatehgarh Sahib: Acid was thrown on a sleeping family in Rampur village of Thana Badali Ala Singh in Fatehgarh Sahib. The acid fell on the head of the family, and he raised an alarm. By the time the lights of the house were switched on, the accused who threw the acid had fled. Amandeep Singh (42), who was severely burned due to the acid, has been referred to PGI Chandigarh. Meanwhile, the police of Station Badali Ala Singh registered a case against an unknown person in this matter.

Balwinder Kaur, a resident of Rampur village, told the police in her complaint that she was married to Amandeep Singh about 23 years ago. They have two daughters, one 21 years old and the other 19 years old. Her husband, Amandeep Singh, works in a private job. Last night, after having dinner, all four of them slept in a room with a cooler. The window was covered with a cloth.

Her husband, Amandeep, was sleeping near the window. Late at night, at around 1:30 am, her husband got up from the bed and started screaming. When she switched on the light, she saw that the room was full of smoke. Someone had thrown a flammable substance or acid on her husband. The bed was also burned. When she went out, she saw that someone had fled from the stairs. She called her relative Baljit Singh, who brought a car, and her husband was first admitted to PGI, Chandigarh.

Investigating the case, IO ASI Balwinder Singh said that the doctors of PGI declared Amandeep Singh unfit to give a statement. After this, a case was registered against unknown people under the Indian Penal Code (BNS) 124 (1) on the statements of Amandeep’s wife Balwinder Kaur. The accused are being traced.
