Jalandhar: In a brazen daytime theft, unidentified criminals made off with a Honda Activa scooter from outside a D‑Mart store near Guru Nanak Mission Chowk.
The victim, had parked her two-wheeler outside the mart around on Thursday after shopping amid heavy crowds, only to discover it missing upon her return.
Speaking with the The Savera times the victims brother said that the parking authorities refused them to check CCTV fottage and said that to file FIR first.
Activa thefts have become alarmingly common across urban India. A quick scan of national forums reveals consistent incidents—scooters taken in moments, often using generic keys or exploiting weak locking features. Vulnerable parking zones like mall‑adjacent lots are frequent targets, with thieves responding to minimal security presence during peak store hours.
Law enforcement urges the public to file FIRs immediately and urges shop owners and mall management to enhance security measures. “CCTV cameras, frequent patrols, and controlled access could deter opportunistic thieves,” noted a senior police official, stressing that “any negligence could encourage repeat offenders.”
