After renaming of govt schools after martyrs, Punjab govt to install statues of martyrs on inter-state roads

The department hopes that this project will be completed in the coming few months.

Chandigarh: The Punjab government will install statues of martyrs on inter-state roads in border areas. The Public Works Department will fulfil the responsibility of this work. Under this pilot project, 2 to 3 roads will be selected in the first phase.

Statues will be installed on both sides of the road. The department hopes that this project will be completed in the coming few months. Earlier, the government built memorials, etc. in the name of martyrs in villages. At the same time, now work has started on this project.

In the first phase, work will be done on the roads adjoining Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir. After this, this project will move forward. A strategy was made in the DC meeting led by the CM regarding this project. The idea behind this project is to instill a sense of patriotism in the young generation. Along with this, our martyrs should be respected.

Earlier, the Punjab government had changed the names of more than 56 schools. The names of these schools were running on objectionable or caste-based words. The matter related to this came to the notice of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. After this, he sought information about this from all the districts.

Along with this, a list of martyrs or freedom fighters in whose name they want to name the schools was sought. After this, approval was given to change the names of the schools.
