Ahead of elections Jalandhar Police seize cash worth Rs 8 Lakh From Car at check post

Jalandhar Police stopped a car coming from Hoshiarpur at the blockade. What came as a shocker was that around Rs 8 lakh was found during checking from the car.

Jalandhar: Strictness has been done by the police in all the states regarding the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. As per the guidelines in the state, one can not keep cash more than Rs 50,000. If one is found having cash more than Rs 50,000 then proof of the cash source has to be given.

In order to keep a check on the supply of cash, liquor, and other things in state, check post are there at different points in the city. Special blockades are created at the entry points to curb the illegal supply.

Today as a part of checking, Jalandhar Police stopped a car coming from Hoshiarpur at the blockade. What came as a shocker was that around Rs 8 lakh was found during checking from the car.

The person from whom the money was recovered claimed that he is a businessman but he was not able to provide proof of eight lakh rupees yet.

Giving more information about this, police employee Harpreet Singh said that a special blockade was done in the city today, during which the car was stopped for checking and about eight lakh rupees were found with it. Police official added that seniors have been informed about this and the car owner has been sent to police station number one and further investigation will be carried out.
