Amritsar: Air Quality has deteriorated after firecrackers were burst last night. Amritsar in Punjab has reached the list of most polluted cities in the country. After the fireworks on Friday night, the AQI of Amritsar has come in the GRAP-3 category. This is equal to the pollution level of Delhi. Chandigarh is also just 3 AQI away from the GRAP-3 category. The average AQI of Chandigarh was recorded at 297 in the morning, while the AQI of Amritsar is 339. This is the second consecutive day when the AQI of Amritsar has reached dangerous levels.
The average AQI was also recorded at 350 at 4 pm yesterday. If it does not decrease soon, the government will have to consider imposing graph-3 restrictions in Amritsar. At the same time, the pollution level in Chandigarh was 302 AQI yesterday evening, but there is some relief as the day progresses, but it is temporary.
At the same time, the AQI at 7 am in Bathinda was 131, 225 in Jalandhar, 220 in Khanna, 266 in Ludhiana, 236 in Mandi Gobindgarh and 231 in Patiala. According to the Pollution Control Board, Amritsar is in the red category and most of the cities of Punjab are in the orange category.

It is 2.1 degrees higher in Punjab and 3.3 degrees higher in Chandigarh but as per IMD soon it will become normal. The wind speed in Punjab has been quite good for a few days. In this situation, the temperature will start falling gradually and the cold will start increasing. But this is going to be a dry cold as there is no possibility of rain for the entire coming week.
