Chandigarh, May 30: Former minister and Shiromani Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa will be cremated today in his native village Ubhawal in Sangrur district. Earlier in the morning, his body will be brought from Chandigarh via Rajpura, Patiala, Bhawanigarh to his residence in Sangrur between 10:30 and 11:00 am for the last darshan of the Sangat. The funeral procession will leave from Sangrur for his native village Ubhawal Sangrur at around 3 pm.

Earlier on Thursday, his body was taken from Mohali’s Fortis Hospital to Chandigarh, where many celebrities reached for his last darshan. During this, leaders of Akali Dal, Aam Aadmi Party, Congress and BJP reached for his last darshan. On this occasion, Jalandhar MLA Pargat Singh said that he was a very good leader. He contributed a lot in sports. He was active in decent politics for a long time. He was a person of positive thinking. His departure has caused a loss that will never be compensated. Congress leader Tript Singh Bajwa said that he was a very big personality.
He breathed his last on 28 May in Mohali
Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa breathed his last in Mohali. He was admitted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali in a critical condition on 27 May 2025. The hospital has said in its statement that he had pneumonia and complex heart problems, which were aggravated due to age-related diseases. Despite the best efforts by the team of specialist doctors, he could not be saved due to cardiac arrest and heart failure at around 5:05 pm on 28 May.
