Schools reopen in Punjab and Chandigarh from tomorrow

The menu for mid-day meals will also change.

Chandigarh: All the government schools in Punjab and Chandigarh will open on Monday after the summer holidays. However, some private schools will open on Monday and some in the coming one or two days.

The time of the state schools will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The timing of single-shift schools in Chandigarh will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The double-shift schools will run from 7.15 a.m. to 7.45 a.m., and the second shift will run from 1 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. At the same time, the menu of midday meals will also change in the schools of Punjab starting tomorrow. This time, due to the increasing heat, summer holidays were declared on May 21st itself.

According to the menu, on Monday, dal (with vegetables) and roti; on Tuesday, rajma rice; on Wednesday, black gram or white gram (with potatoes) and puri and roti; on Thursday, kadhi and rice; on Friday, seasonal vegetables and roti; and on Saturday, dal gram and dal will be served. During this time, seasonal fruits will also be given to the students. The department has clarified that the food will be served hot to the children. The students should not have any problems with the food.

There are more than 19 thousand government schools in Punjab. Food is served from first to eighth grade. The effort behind this is to connect the children to the school. The department provides adequate funds for midday meals. Also, a record of all the food given to the children at the midday meal is kept. For this, cooks have been deployed in all the schools.
